Nick Franglen
Producer and classically trained multi-instrumentalist, Nick
Franglen is one half of the internationally renowned electronica
duo Lemon Jelly. Born in North London in 1965, Franglen followed
his early days as paperboy to John Cleese and Peter Cook by
becoming ‘landscape gardener to the stars’. When
not getting very muddy in Trevor Horn’s garden, building
ornamental bridges for Freddie Mercury or laying a new lawn
for ANC president Oliver Tambo, the 1990s were mostly spent
as a session musician for the likes of Primal Scream, Bjork,
Pulp, and Blur. As well as producing Lemon Jelly's records
he has produced albums for John Cale, Badly Drawn Boy and,
most recently, Colin McIntyre, and has written scores for
film and TV, including the Griff Rhys Jones’ Restoration
series. His live experiences have ranged from headlining shows
around the world with Lemon Jelly to performing with John
Cale at the last night of Patti Smith’s Meltdown. A
bad motorcycle accident curbed Nick’s love of speed
and forced him to find his kicks 60 metres down, scuba diving
into wrecks in the murky waters of the English Channel.
