The Calving Barn sessions took place in West Sussex over four days in January and February 2007. We started about 15 tracks, nine of which we mixed. Charles tended to play electric and Nick acoustic, though that wasn't always the case.

During these recordings we learned that any preconceived musical direction would choke the music, which was kind of disappointing and liberating at the same time. It's just the way it is.
